Military parents seek justice over daughter's brain damage

The birth of a child is a momentous occasion for most New Jersey parents, and the day on which they are born is often one of the most joyous days of their lives. Sadly, that does not appear to be the case for an Army mother and her Air Force veteran husband. They claim that egregious errors during labor led to brain damage in their daughter, and they have been fighting for some type of legal recourse ever since.

Negligence in health care information can harm patients

In an age of social media, Google and cell phone videos, privacy can sometimes be seen as a thing of the past. While some people are content to share all the details of their lives, from the smallest to the biggest, medical privacy is still a pressing and important issue. Provider negligence when it comes to a diagnosis, medication or any type of health care information can have profound and reverberating impacts on a person's ability to seek and receive necessary care.

A medical negligence claim must pass professional scrutiny

A medical malpractice case requires extensive investigation prior to filing the complaint. Attorneys who handle medical negligence claims in New Jersey and elsewhere screen potential cases thoroughly. This is due to the complicated nature of such claims, the heavy expense required to litigate them and the rigorous standards to prove causation, making it necessary to view claims selectively. However, one should not try to make that decision without the assistance of an  experienced attorney, nor should a layman attempt to file and litigate such a case without professional guidance.

When a loved one dies in New Jersey due to emergency room error

Being faced with an urgent medical situation is often stressful and worrisome for all involved. Parents or other family members who may accompany a sick or injured loved one to the hospital typically do so with the greatest of hope that all will be well once medical professionals address the issue and take steps to offer appropriate treatment. What is a New Jersey family to do, however, when an emergency room error results in a loved one's death?

Keeping kids safe from dangerous toys this holiday season

No matter what holiday you celebrate, the season is a time for family, friends and general merriment. For those with children, gift giving is often a part of the celebration. What we as parents and grandparents need to think about is how safe are the toys we are giving our children?

Is hospital negligence contributing to maternal deaths?

Most likely, it would not surprise many people to know that the risks of pregnancy and childbirth do not only apply to the baby, but to the mothers as well. What may surprise New Jersey readers is that an increasing number of women are dying here in the United States due to complications. Doctor and hospital negligence may be contributing to those rising numbers.
