Family suspects hospital negligence caused a woman's death

New Jersey residents have the right to believe that they, or their loved ones, are receiving the best care while in the hospital. Whether undergoing planned treatment or experiencing a medical emergency, anxiety may already be felt without the added concern over possible errors being made regarding the course of treatment. When a patient is injured or killed as a result of hospital negligence, surviving family members are left to pick up the pieces, with little or no resolution.

Waitress files lawsuit after doctor`s failure to diagnose injury

New Jersey residents who have had negative experiences related to medical care may be interested in the fate of a waitress in another state. In 2011, a female waitress fell and injured her knee after she tripped on shrimp at her workplace. She has now filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against the doctor who treated her on the day of the incident. Now, three years later, the woman is allegedly still suffering, and she claims it is a result of the doctor's failure to diagnose her condition.

Jury awards $2.88 million in injection injury case

A jury awarded more than $2 million to the family of a man who suffered from an injection injury and eventually ended his own life. The case involved a patient who was seeking treatment for back pain through a steroid injection. Shortly after the treatment the injection site became red and inflamed, eventually developing into a prominent lump.

Mistakes in counting lead to injuries for surigical patients

Imagine going home after a surgery thinking everything went well and then days later experiencing serious pain, only to discover that the surgery did go well, but hospital staff left behind a sponge or a scalpel inside your body. This happens to approximately five patients each day, according to analysis of 20 years of medical malpractice lawsuit information. This totals more than 2,000 claims for foreign objects being left inside patients each year.
