New Jersey patients could be victims of surgery gone wrong

For some individuals, undergoing surgery can cause immense anxiety. This feeling is understandable as there are many risks when having to go through such a procedure, and unfortunately, serious mistakes could also occur. New Jersey residents may be interested in a surgery gone wrong that took place in another state and that has recently resulted in legal action.

Reports stated that an 83-year-old man had gone in for surgery due to having a tumor attached to his right kidney. During the procedure, doctors were supposed to have removed the tumor. It was noted that the man's particular form of cancer was life-threatening, and two radiologists and a nurse practitioner all diagnosed the tumor on his right kidney.

However, a serious error was reportedly made as the doctors removed the man's healthy left kidney rather than operating on the tumor. The report stated that it was unclear why the doctors removed the healthy organ rather than looking for the tumor. Nonetheless, the man has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against multiple doctors and the hospital and is undoubtedly hoping to receive compensation.

Serious medical mistakes like a surgery gone wrong may seem unfathomable, but as this case shows, unbelievable errors can easily occur. If New Jersey residents have been the victims of such grievous medical negligence, they may wish to consider their legal options for seeking compensation. Speaking with experienced medical malpractice attorneys could help them determine whether their cases warrant claims and what their best options may be for moving forward.
