Hospital negligence could negate organ transplants

Being in a life-threatening situation can leave many individuals feeling dismayed. Unfortunately, many medical conditions can cause New Jersey residents to find themselves fighting for their lives. In some cases, organ transplants may prolong life or allow for a remedy for the issue altogether. However, if hospital negligence occurs at some point during the transplant process, individuals may continue to suffer.

One woman in another state reportedly found herself in such a situation. Apparently, the woman has filed a lawsuit against a hospital, organ donation organizations and other entities after her organ transplants did not go as expected. The woman reportedly had a pancreas and kidney transplant in June 2016. In Dec. 2016, the organs had to be removed.

The pancreas that was transplanted into the woman was reportedly cancerous, and as a result, she developed cancer in multiple parts of her body. She also had to have other organs removed due to the cancer. The woman believes that the organizations did not properly screen the organs to make sure they were not cancerous before her transplants. It was also noted that organs from the same donor were transplanted into two other individuals who later died from cancer.

When hospital negligence leads to such serious outcomes, individuals' lives can be devastated. New Jersey residents who have found themselves in similar predicaments may wonder what action they could take to address the damages they suffered. Information on medical malpractice claims could help them determine whether following such a course of action could suit their particular needs.
